SPEED cameras are set to stay in Hertfordshire despite announcements from the government that it will be cutting the road safety budget by 40 per cent.
It is believed in the national media, following Swindon and most recently Oxfordshire, that the traps could be removed from the nation’s roads altogether.
However a Herts County Council spokeswoman said there are still “no plans to reduce the number of speed cameras in Hertfordshire”, as was the case when Swindon first switched off its cameras back in December 2009.
