IF you see lots of flashing blue lights and emergency crews running around the A1(M) Hatfield Tunnel tonight (Saturday), fear not.
An emergency exercise is being staged to test plans in place to deal with a “major incident” in the newly refurbished tunnel.
Police, firefighters, paramedics and the Highways Agency are among the organisations participating in the exercise.
It means the A1(M) between junction three and four will be closed in both directions – including the northbound entry slip road at junction three and southbound entry slip road at junction 4 – from 10pm until 5am.
A diversion route will be fully signposted taking traffic onto the A1001.
