Govia Thameslink has axed its rail replacement buses after improvements in reliability.
From Sunday, July 22, Govia Thameslink will not keep buses at the ready to pick up the slack when a train is cancelled.
The May 20 timetable had an exceptionally poor service record and weeks of chaos for commuters, with numerous services covered at last minute by on-hand bus services.
However, a spokesperson for Govia Thameslink says the service has improved after a new interim timetable came in on July 15.
Official figures show that 91 per cent of rush hour services to London King’s Cross have run since July 15 on the Great Northern/Thameslink shared route from Peterborough.
“The new interim timetable is running well and rail replacement buses are no longer needed,” said the spokesperson.
“We are running more trains, more reliably.
“If there is further serious disruption caused, for example, by damage to overhead lines which has happened in the past, then we will organise buses and, if necessary, taxis to help passengers complete their journeys.”
