FIRE crews from London have been placed on emergency standby as their counterparts in Hertfordshire respond to a huge number of storm-related callouts.
Currently, 26 of the county’s 41 fire engines are at incidents, caused by a massive storm that passed overhead this lunchtime (Tuesday).
The county council tweeted: “Herts Fire and Rescue Service currently dealing with a number of fires across the county caused by lightning strikes.”
It went on to say: “Crews from London on standby in the south of county to provide operational cover.”
