A collision and spillage have caused long delays on the M25 stretching back to Potters Bar.
The crash occurred at around 4pm on the clockwise carriageway between Junction 26 for Waltham Abbey and Junction 27 for the M11.
One lane has subsequently closed and there are long tailbacks to Potters Bar and South Mimms.
Highways England officers are currently at the scene and are urging motorist to plan ahead before using the route.
Congestion is also building near Junction 23 for South Mimms, where a vehicle has broken down just off the anticlockwise slip road for the motorway.
