Commuters travelling through Cuffley suffered slight delays on Friday morning after an animal was hit by a train.
The grisly remains of the unfortunate creature, believed to be a deer, were spotted at the north end of the platforms.
The scene was described as “grim” by one passenger on Twitter.
A spokeswoman for Network Rail said: “We had reports of an animal on the line at 7.15am this morning at Cuffley. Network Rail members of staff removed the animal and normal working resumed at half an hour later.”
