A multi-vehicle crash inside the A1(M)’s Hatfield Tunnel caused delays this morning.
A police spokeswoman said all traffic was temporarily halted near Junction 4 at around 8.40am following the collision – which involved “three or four vehicles”.
She said the stretch near Junction 4 was cleared by about 9.10am.
Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Police tweeted: “Hatfield tunnel now clear. It may not look much but a snapped front axle poses a problem. Thanks to Highways England for dragging it clear. Patience is a virtue.”
Nobody was injured in the collision, the spokeswoman added.
