SUICIDES on the railways are the subject of a new advertising initiative run by Network Rail and the Samaritans and supported by First Capital Connect (FCC).

The ‘Men on the Ropes’ campaign, launched this month, targets working-class men in their 30s to 50s as figures show they are the most likely group to commit suicide.

The campaign is a result of the increasing threat of suicide across the national rail network as recent statistics show that suicides and suspected suicides have increased by 10 per cent compared to last year.

FCC operate the line running through Times Territory stations including Potters Bar, Welwyn Garden City, Welwyn North, Knebworth, Welham Green and Brookmans Park.
