HATFIELD tunnel will be closed for five nights from tonight (Monday) while ongoing tunnel refurbishment works are carried out.
The work will take place overnight between 10pm and 5.30am Monday to Thursday, and between 11pm and 6am Friday, when traffic flows are lowest, to reduce the impact on road users.
Drivers travelling southbound will be taken off A1(M) the at junction four (Oldings roundabout, Hatfield) and diverted along the A1001, and then back on the A1(M) at junction two.
And road users travelling northbound will be taken off at junction three (Welham Green) and diverted along the A1001, and then back on the A1(M) at junction four.
