Motorists are being warned to expect delays after a crash between South Mimms and Hatfield caused one lane to close on the A1(M).
A Highways England spokesman said congestion is building on the northbound carriageway between junctions one and two following a three-car collision at around 8am this morning.
He added there were reports of an oil spill, but no-one is thought to have been seriously injured.
Delays are continuing to build back to the M25 junction for South Mimms, with congestion expected to last until around 9.45am.
