The A1(M) has been closed for emergency repairs between Welwyn and Stevenage following a four-vehicle crash this morning.
One person was taken to hospital after the collision at around 8.35am on the northbound stretch between Junction 6 for Welwyn and Junction 7 for Stevenage.
Highways England has said that the main carriageway will be closed to allow officers to complete “emergency re-surfacing following a severe fuel spill”.
The incident has caused long delays and motorists are being urged to plan ahead before travelling.
