A HUGE Horse Chesnut tree which fell this morning caused a Hatfield road to close.
The northbound carriage way of the A1000 (Comet Way) was shut by police for around half an hour as Herts Highways cleared up the foliage which had crashed onto the road at 6.25am.
A police spokeswoman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times that the road was closed between the roundabout, on which the Airfield pub sits, right upto Hatfield Police Station.
A Herts Highways spokeswoman added that traffic was allowed through again at 9.50am, however she added that a team would have to close the road at a later point today as work continued.
