A NEWLY-FORMED band of campaigners took to the streets to put pressure on council bosses over the postponed revamp of Hatfield town centre.

The protesters wielded placards while handing out leaflets and encouraging residents to sign a petition against the current dilapidated state of Hatfield last Saturday.

Mike Hobday, chairman of Action Hatfield, told the WHT he collected over 1,000 signatures to send to Welwyn Hatfield Council.

He said: "We had many interesting conversations with locals and visitors alike, all very keen to see some action by the council to give our town back its heart.

"To speak to so many people and have their support is wonderful.
