Tory candidate wins Welwyn Hatfield Council by-election

The Conservative Party’s candidate won the Welwyn Hatfield Council by-election in Haldens, Welwyn Garden City.
Nathaniel Chapman yesterday scooped 34.28 per cent of the vote (507), ahead of Labour’s Astrid Thorpe with 30.7 per cent (454) and the Lib Dems’ candidate Anthony Dennis with 29.55 per cent (437).
The Green Party’s Lynne Allison received 81 votes.
Welwyn Hatfield Council confirmed voter turnout in Haldens dropped 7.93 per cent since May’s election, to 29.25 per cent.
