A former Northaw resident is in the running for a top equality award.

Simon Esner, director at contract catering company BaxterStorey, is shortlisted for a top gong, which champions equality and diversity in the workplace.

To mark International Women’s Day on March 8, Women in the City and BIFM’s ‘Women in Facilities Management’ joined forces to identify and recognise men who go the extra mile in encouraging diversity.

As part of this initiative, the two organisations encouraged nominations from various industries, looking for male champions who have proactively supported and developed female colleagues.

Mr Esner, 53, has been shortlisted for an ‘Encouraging Equality’ award.

The winner is chosen by a public vote and will be announced on March 3.
