Crews from three fire stations were called to a lorry fire on the A1(M) this morning.

A problem with the braking system of the articulated lorry prompted the emergency call, shortly after 7.15am.

A spokesman from Herts Fire and Rescue Service told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “There was a small fire within the braking system on the A1(M) southbound between junctions 4 and 3.”

Crews were called from Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City and St Albans.

The incident had been dealt with by 7.40am.
