THREE youths and a man were arrested in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday), in connection with a burglary in Hatfield.

Police were called to reports of “suspicious activity” around a home in Cecil Crescent at 2.15am.

Officers attended and scoured the area.

Four people, 15 and 16 year old boys from Hatfield, a 16-year-old boy from Brighton and an 18-year-old man from Hatfield, were ultimately arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to burgle.

They are currently in police custody.

Detective inspector for Welwyn Hatfield, Oliver Johnston said: “Our enquiries into this incident are continuing, however the early warning from the occupants enabled us to act quickly and carry out an immediate search of the area.

“We’d always urge people to be vigilant and contact police if they witness anything out of the ordinary.”

He added: “It’s also a useful reminder to people to ensure they take precautions to protect their property against burglary such as double locking your UPVC doors and checking all doors and windows are locked before you go out.”
