Thousands have been raised after a Welwyn Garden City dog crowned 'Britain's next top pug model' lost her battle to cancer.

Martyn and Kelly West’s pug Daisy died this year at three years old.

To mark her memory the couple held a fundraiser which raised £1,792 for the Animal Cancer Trust.

The charity aims to help owners and facilitate ethical research to improve our understanding and treatment of cancer.

In 2017 the pooch beat 900 others of its popular breed and took home the title of Britain’s next top pug model.

To raise awareness of cancer in dogs and humans the couple held a mini photoshoot at Welwyn Garden City’s Coronation Fountain which is currently pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Daisy’s cousin, four-year-old Lilly sported a Tickled Pink bandana in support.
