THE vibes are a bit of a rarity on the jazz club circuit, and to hear them played with enthusiastic virtuosity by a player scarcely out of his teens adds up to a double helping of the unusual at Googlies jazz club next Thursday (March 19).

Lewis Wright began playing vibes in 1998, at the ripe old age of nine years, since when he has developed to become an emergent star on the British jazz scene. Vibes veterans Roger Beaujolais and Jim Hart have both testified to Lewis's talents. Googlies starts at 7.30pm at Botany Bay Cricket Club, East Lodge Lane, Enfield.

The Bay Jazz club, also at Botany Bay Cricket Club, features on Tuesday Barry Grummet: New Orleans Heat.
