Rising acapella group The Sons of Pitches bestowed their pearls of wisdom on youngsters at a Welwyn school.

The Sons of Pitches, which rocketed to victory in last year’s BBC hit The Naked Choir, performed at Welwyn St Mary’s Primary School before running several workshops.

The group, which includes WGC’s Joeseph Novelli, sang a unique version of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’ before teaching the youngsters how to beatbox – a form of vocal percussion mimicking drum machines.

Deputy headteacher Sheila Anstey said: “We are incredibly lucky to have experienced an amazing day of music with The Sons of Pitches.

“The children have had a wonderful time and been inspired to try lots of different styles of singing.”

Lucy Noakes, of Year 4, said she loved the group’s singing, adding: “They showed me that it’s really easy to make an amazing song if you break it up into bits.

“I definitely want to do more singing.”
