Welwyn Garden City man Joeseph Novelli, 22, and his band The Sons of Pitches triumphed in the BBC’s music competition The Naked Choir this evening.

Joe from Panshanger and his band soared to victory in the final, aired this evening (Tuesday), and officially earned the title ‘best amateur signing group’.

Reflecting on the moment they won, ex-Stanborough School student Joe, said: “It was literally unreal.

“We spent a good few years looking for a break like this to launch us to making it somewhere, and it all came together in that one moment. It was mental.”

The show, which was spread over six weeks, pitted eight groups against each other, and is based on performing a cappella (without backing tracks or musical instruments).

For the full interview with Joe, check out this week’s Welwyn Hatfield Times, out tomorrow (Wednesday, October 28).
