RESIDENTS will today (Thursday) get the chance to quiz experts next week about Tesco's plans for WGC town centre.

The supermarket giant has put forward a 300m scheme to transform Broadwater Road.

Its vision for the former Shredded Wheat site includes a large central "piazza" containing cafes and bars, a swimming pool, and a supermarket.

There would also be up to 1,100 homes and new employment space, as well as a new footbridge over the railway track, providing a link to the rest of the town centre.

Spenhill, the regeneration arm of Tesco, is now gearing up to stage a public exhibition of its proposals.

Planners and engineers will be on hand at St Francis of Assisi Church in Parkway, WGC, to answer any questions from members of the public.

Sessions run from 1.30pm to 4.30pm today (Thursday), 11.15am to 6pm tomorrow (Friday), and 9am to 6pm on Saturday.

There will be a further event at Woodhall Community Centre in Mill Green Road, WGC, on Monday from 10am to 8pm.

And the exhibition will also be held at Tesco's store in Hatfield next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11am to 4pm.
