A tesco van delivering groceries in Welwyn Garden City was the victim of opportunistic thieves last week.

The van was parked in Bridge Road, near to the junction with Valley Road, at around 8pm on Tuesday, May 5.

The driver, who had been delivering to a property, noticed on his return that a black and silver Messenger bag had been taken from inside.

Two people wearing hoodies were seen near the van around the time the bag was taken.

Police are hoping anyone who noticed anything unusual will come forward with information.

PC Darren Turner said: “I believe a member of the public who was in the area at the time may have witnessed the incident and I am keen to trace this person as soon as possible, as they may have vital information which could assist with the investigation.

“If this was you, or you have any other information about the theft, please get in contact with me.”
