A film crew came to Hatfield to make a pilot episode of a proposed new television comedy.

A team from Hat Trick Productions used several Hatfield locations last week, including the Galleria shopping centre, and The Taste of India restaurant in Salisbury Square.

Proud restaurant owner Mo Ullah said: “ It went on for three-and-a half-hours.

“There were about 60 cast and crew. They floodlit the square.

“There was so much technology. I felt like I was in Star Wars.

“It was a fantastic experience.

“I saw faces I knew from television, but I didn’t know their names.”

A spokesman for the company was reluctant to release details, or names of the cast members, but confirmed they included “notable names.”

He said: “It is a pilot for a channel, not for screening unless it is chodsen for a series.

“But if it is chosen we will be using the episode we filmed at Mo’s restaurant and elsewhere in Hatfield.”

Popular programmes made by Hat Trick Productions include The Kumars and Have I Got News For You.
