Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was told he would be set on fire in Welwyn Garden City.

It happened in College Way on Friday, November 7 at around 5pm.

The victim, a 19-year-old man, was cycling along the road when a man blocked his path close to the mini-roundabout near Waitrose.

The man sprayed deodorant on the teenager’s chest before holding a lighter, which was not lit, close to his body.

The suspect is described as black, slim, aged 17 to 18, with short dark hair and wearing black clothing.

If anyone saw what happened or has any information which would assist the investigation they should call PC Richard Brain via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number B1/14/3344.
