Police escorted a 13-year-old home to his mum after he was caught “smashing up” a locked up bike outside The Howard Centre in Welwyn Garden City.

At around 9.20pm on Thursday, April 12, two PCSOs were on patrol when they came across a teenager jumping up and down on the read of a locked bicycle outside the shopping centre.

A police spokeswoman said: “The boy was taken home to his mother.

“Enquiries are on-going and a note was left for the owner of the bicycle to get in touch with police.

“The offender is under investigation.”
