A TAXI caught fire on the A414 yesterday (Monday).
The black cab was heading from Hatfield to Cole Green at 8pm last night.
The driver of the vehicle reacted quickly to the engine blaze, putting it out with his own fire extinguisher.
Hatfield firefighter Steve Duncan, who was called to the incident to make the vehicle safe, said: "He was lucky to save his cab. Often when a fire starts like that the whole thing goes up.
"He did a good job.
