Two middle aged men who call themselves “The Tandem Mandem” will make an unconventional trip from Welwyn Garden City to Cardiff for a good cause.

Drew Young and Jason Johnson will complete the 180-mile journey to the Welsh city on a tandem bicycle over three days in May to raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer.

Their father-in-law was recently diagnosed with the disease, which has the lowest five-year survival rate of the common cancers. This inspired them to embark on their “Epic Little big Adventure (ELbA)” in support of Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Drew’s wife Lauren Young, who father was diagnosed last September, said: “A lot of other cancers there’s quite a lot of awareness. We didn’t know anything about pancreatic cancer and wouldn’t have been able to tell signs of it.”

They’ve received more than £1,100 in donations so far at www.justgiving.com/epiclittlebigadventure and there will be various other fund raisers in the lead up to, and during, the ride.

Follow the Epic Little Big Adventure page on Facebook for updates.
