Police are linking a string of attacks on parked vehicles in Hatfield, and have arrested a suspect.

Although the 22-year-old Hatfield man has been arrested just for stealing sat navs and lap top computers

from five vehicles in Longmead and Great North Road, police believe the offences are linked to 11 other attacks in other streets, also on June 7 or June 8.

The other offences were in the Birchwood area, Old Hatfield, Roe Green and The Ryde,

PC Emily Martin said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who was in any of these areas overnight between December 7 and 8, or anyone who knows who may be responsible to contact police with information.

“I would also like to reassure residents and business owners that there will continue to be increased patrols in the area to help prevent any further offences. I would also urge people to take the time to ensure their vehicles are properly secured and no valuables are on display.”

The suspect was released on police bail.
