AN IT company is urging businesses to take advantage of new super-fast broadband that has finally arrived in villages in Hertfordshire.

The Welwyn telephone exchange has been upgraded to support fibre optic broadband – offering services 10 times faster than standard ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line).

Some villages in Welwyn Hatfield now have faster broadband than ever before.

But while that means computers run quicker, it also means they can get infected quicker too.

That’s why Tewin-based IT firm Gibberish is offering to help small businesses ensure their PCs are up to speed and security systems are in place for the new service.

Gibberish owner Lara Fielding said: “With broadband now available at up to 80MB, a slow running machine can show itself and reduce productivity.

“Given the amount of computer viruses circulating, it would be sensible to not only ensure your computer is as good as it can be, but also that you have proper protection on it.

“While you can surf faster, you can also get infected faster, it’s a two-way street.”

* Gibberish is offering Welwyn Hatfield Times readers a discounted rate of £75 for an hour-and-a-half computer check up.

Businesses looking for remote support will also receive 10 per cent off their annual contract by quoting WHT.
