A TEENAGER has written a story to raise vital funds for Herts Air Ambulance.

Poppy Young, of Mill Green Road, Welwyn Garden City, will see her tale published on the Stevenage Football Club website.

The 13-year-old will also be attending a game this weekend, at the ground, to collect money for the charity.

She said: “It is really important because they have no Government funding. It is a very good charity because it saves lives.”

Her story is about Heli the Helicopter, who is called into action on the day of a big Stevenage FC match.

She hopes the public will be able to view it on the team’s website this week.

Poppy said: “I love writing stories and I thought I could write a story and if I got it published I could raise some money.

“We need to keep them in the air.”

Last weekend the teenager went to the ground to meet the mascots for the football club and Herts Air Ambulance.

“It was really good because I had never been to a football stadium before,” Poppy added.

On Saturday there will be 18 fundraisers walking round the ground with buckets to ask for people to donate their loose change.
