Train passengers from Welwyn Hatfield and Potters Bar have suffered serious delays and overcrowding this morning because of storm damage.

Overhead power cables were damaged near St Neots, Cambridgeshire, yesterday, forcing Network Rail to close a section of track for repairs.

Although the work has been completed, several trains this morning were shorter than usual, and late starting.

A spokesman for Govia Great Northern apologised for the disruption, but said trains were now operating as usual, and there was no reason to expect further problems.
