A 10FT pile of stinking rubbish is plaguing a Hatfield town centre alleyway and a councillor is calling for action.
Labour stalwart Colin Croft believes someone could die in the flats above, as fires are often started within the waste.
He said: "The problem is getting worse and there will be a fatality if we don't do anything about it.
"It's a big eyesore.
"The passageway is used by very many people, it stinks of rotting rubbish, and it's next to a cafe which is totally unhygienic."
Cllr Croft took this picture with the rubbish standing at 10.33ft and added it was the worst he had ever seen.
He added: "It's disrespectful and if it had been WGC it would not have happened."
