A 20-year-old man has been arrested after a pensioner in his 90s was stabbed twice during a callous attack at a park.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the man was arrested today on suspicion of GBH and is currently in police custody.

It follows yesterday’s attack in Oakmere Park, Potters Bar, where a man in his 90s was stabbed in the back with what officers believe was a knife at around 1.30pm.

The arrest comes after a huge police response yesterday, which saw the entire park cordoned off and around a dozen police cars surrounding the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference number J3/17/944.
