Year Five youngsters from St Michael’s Woolmer Green flocked to Knebworth Care Home in London Road to spend the day reading, writing, and sharing some of their favourite poems.

The home’s team also organised a talk on the history and development of poetry in England, which was led by Hazel Bell and Diana Holt.

Home manager Vera Moreira-Henocq said: “We had a wonderful time celebrating all things poetry with the people of Woolmer Green and would like to say a big thank you to Hazel, Diana and the children from St Michael’s Primary School, for making the day extra special.”

She added: “It is remarkable to see how reading poetry aloud can really bring people together and put a smile on the faces of everyone around.”
