THREE sporting venues in Times Territory have been picked to be training camps in the run up to the 2012 Olympics.

Hertfordshire Sports Village, at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield, will host facilities for badminton, basketball, fencing, judo and wrestling.

Gosling Sports Park in WGC will be used for athletics, and practice for archery will be available at Queenswood School in Brookmans Park.

The venues were among more than 600 across the UK which feature in the London Organising Committee Pre-Games Training Camp Guide.

They were announced today (Monday) by a delegation of representatives from London 2012.

Chris Perks, regional director of Sport England East, said: "The guide highlights the number of superb facilities available to communities in Hertfordshire.

"Hosting pre-Games camps will give us the chance to showcase these and other superb facilities to teams from across the globe."

The guide, to be published at the Beijing Olympics this summer, will give teams and individual athletes a great selection of venues to choose from for preparation.

It will be circulated to all national Olympic and Paralympic committees.
