A COMMUNITY cafe has opened to give villagers the chance to speak to police officers and councillors every week.

The cafe at Woolmer Green Village Hall will be open every Friday morning from 10.30am for two hours.

Welwyn East neighbourhood officer Pc Jamie Johnston said: “This will be a chance for residents to chat and meet neighbours and speak to officers and parish councillors about any issues they may have.

“It’s a great way of sharing information and bringing the community together.”

The Woolmer Green Safer Neighbourhood Team has been working with the parish council, vicar and businesses to set up the community café which is based on the current successful community cafe in Welwyn.

Parish councillor Ilaria Inglima added: “The community cafe is a joint venture between different community groups active in the village; an activity addressed to fight isolation, improve cohesion and networking within the community and enjoy village life.

“We are really looking forward to start.”
