Disabled children will be able to try horse riding in extra comfort thanks to Welwyn Garden City shoppers.

The Riding for the Disabled Association’s branch in Digswell Place, Sherrardspark Wood, will buy a special foam saddle with a £300 donation from Waitrose, after customers voted for it in the store’s Community Matters scheme.

Volunteer Lucy Hunter told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “We are very grateful to Waitrose. A foam saddle will be more comfortable for young children.

“We always need more volunteers, but we have space for some more riders as well.

“I find it very rewarding.”

The branch, which offers riding to adults and children alike, can be contacted on 01438 832651 or at jackiemer@btinternet.com
