NEWLY-ELECTED Hatfield councillors will have to decide whether or not to continue funding Pscos in the town.
Hatfield Town Council has given Hertfordshire Constabulary six months notice to terminate its Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the force, which currently sees two Pcsos patrolling the council’s parks, open spaces and the town centre.
With the last SLA deal now expired, town councillors have agreed not to commit the council chosen after the May elections to an expenditure which increases the precept for residents.
Councillors did recommend the next council approve funding for two years, and that view will be considered at the next meeting, after the elections.
It costs Hatfield Town Council 28,500 a year for one Pcso, with Hertfordshire Constabulary paying for a second.
