People can receive the latest information on changes to council refuse and recycling services because of wintery weather and unforeseen road disruptions.

The service is free to receive a message and it costs one standard network message to sign up –text waste followed by your house number or house name and your postcode to 88020.

You can also unsubscribe by texting ESSTOP at anytime.

Councillor Helen Bromley, executive member for environment, said: “We do everything we can to maintain services throughout the winter months, but sometimes bad weather can cause road disruptions and we have to reschedule our collections. The text alert subscription has become increasingly popular with residents because it gives them the latest information on when their bins may be collected.”
