THERE'S a bright future in store for Salisbury Square in Old Hatfield.

The borough council and landowners Gascoyne Cecil Estates are drawing up a blueprint of what they would like to see happen with the shopping centre.

Councillor Alan Franey said: "We are committed to developing and improving all of our community shopping areas to ensure economic vitality in the borough, and we are pleased to have entered into this joint venture as it will open up avenues for improving the square."

Peter Clegg, chief executive of Gascoyne Cecil Estates, said: "Maintaining and improving the quality of the environment in Old Hatfield and its surrounds is a key priority for the estate.

"Our partnership with Welwyn Hatfield Council in respect of Salisbury Square will enable us to contribute towards ensuring that it becomes an attractive and thriving centre again in the future."
