THE expenses claims of Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps have been deemed appropriate by an independent auditor.
Mr Shapps received the news in a letter from Sir Thomas Legg, the former civil servant who has been appointed to review MPs affairs in the wake of this summer's expenses scandal.
In his letter, Sir Thomas informs the shadow housing minister that he has "not identified any payments which I consider call for any repayment or further supporting evidence from you".
He adds: "Accordingly, my conclusion is that no action is required from you in this matter."
A number of MPs, including Prime Minister Gordon Brown, have already been told by Sir Thomas that they must repay some of the cash they have claimed from the public purse.
