A HUNT is on for a sex attacker after a woman was allegedly assaulted in Welwyn Garden City.

The victim, in her 20s, had been walking in the Hollybush Lane area on Monday when a man approached her before pouncing.

He struck between 9.30pm and 12.20am.

Police are appealing for information, and are looking for a car spotted in the area at the same time.

The attacker was described as white, with an English accent.

He had short dark hair and was of slim build.

The man was also described as wearing a white gym top with dark lines under the arms and black jeans.

Detective Inspector Tom Leeks, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would urge anyone who saw or heard anything out of the ordinary in the area to contact police as soon as possible.

“Or if you saw a man of this description in the area please also get in touch immediately.

“I am also keen to trace a small-to-medium sized, dark-coloured five-door vehicle that was seen in the area at the time.”

Anyone with information about the attack should contact police on the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
