A man has been banned from driving after doing 110mph on the A1(M).

A man has been banned from driving after doing 110mph on the A1(M).


A learner driver who sped along the A1(M) in Hatfield at 110mph has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 42 days.

Selim Gayretli, of The Generals Walk, Enfield, was driving a Mitsubishi northbound between Junction 3 to 4 when he exceeded the 70mph limit.

Gayretli was also the holder of a provisional licence, but was unsupervised and was not displaying L plates at the time.

The speed of 110mph was recorded by means of a follow check on February 9.

The defendant was fined £461 for speeding and £153 for driving otherwise than in accordance than with a licence.

The 37-year-old was also ordered to pay victim services £46 and costs of £85.

He was banned from driving for 42 days.

Gayretli pleaded guilty to both offences when he appeared at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on November 20.
