POTTERS Bar looks set to get its second Tesco store - after councillors finally agreed to give the scheme the green light.

Despite considerable reservations about the practicalities of delivery vans parking safely outside the proposed store, in Cranborne Parade off Mutton Lane, members of the Potters Bar and Shenley planning committee have approved the application at the fourth time of asking.

Concerns had mainly centred on whether or not a fire engine or ambulance would be able to pass large delivery vehicles in an emergency.

But the latest proposal, approved by Hertfordshire Highways, has apparently resolved the issue by moving car parking spaces to the other side of the road, allowing emergency vehicles to pass unobstructed.

The committee approved the plans, more than a year and a half after the original application was submitted, on the condition that delivery times were restricted to 8 to 10am and 6to 8pm.
