THE search is on again for three young girls to lead a popular carnival through the town.

The Potters Bar Carnival will be rolling through the town again on June 8 and organisers are on the lookout for a princess and two maids of honour to lead the annual procession.

Carnival committee member Peter Weaver said: "This should be another exciting event.

"Last year we managed to raise around £20,000 for various charities which is great going considering we are not the biggest of towns.

"Some charities set up their own stalls and they make a lot of money from that. Many people say that this event is the highlight of the year in the town so I hope this year is another success."

Last year's princess Ellen Hunt said: "Last year was really exciting and I was able to get dressed up get my hair done up really nicely.

"I enjoyed going round to see all the different stalls and meet new friends."

The Chancellor's School student added: "I was proud to finally get the chance to be princess because it was the last year that I would have been able to do it because of my age.

"I will be going along to see this year's carnival as well."
