SCHOOLS across Times Territory will be closed for a day as teachers go on strike.

As part of nationwide action from the National Union of Teachers schools across the county are being encouraged to strike on Thursday in a call for better pay.

And some of our schools will be taking part in the action, which calls for a 6 per cent pay rise.

A spokeswoman at Hertfordshire County Council said: "Of the 525 schools across Hertfordshire we are aware of 40 schools which will be closed on Thursday for the strikes.

"These schools include The Ryde School in Hatfield, and Sir Frederic Osborn and Monk's Walk schools in WGC."

Stanborough school's website also indicates that they will also be closed for the day, bar year 11 students, in support of the strike.
