Paedophile jailed following offences in Hatfield

A pensioner has been jailed after making thousands of indecent photographs of children in Hatfield.

Salvatore Pellegrini, 75, appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on August 29 charged with making 10,782 category C images of a child in Hatfield in December last year.

He was also charged with making five category B images of a child in Hatfield in December last year.

Pellegrini was jailed for 16 weeks because magistrates considered the offences to be especially serious given the “nature and quantity of images and the risk to the public”.

A sexual harm prevention order was also made for five years.

While the order is in force, Pellegrini must abide by the following rules -

•He must not use any device capable of accessing the internet unless it has the capacity to retain and display the history of the internet usage.

•He must make the device available on request for inspection by a police officer or police staff monitoring officer.

•He is not to delete/amend or change the internet history on any device capable of accessing the internet, or to use any cleaning software.

•He is not to possess any device capable of storing digital images/movies unless it is made available on request by the police.

•He must not access the internet by any computer without risk management software installed, with the exception of being within the workplace and it being for the purpose of his employment.

•He must not tamper with, interfere with, remove, bypass, disable or alter any components or settings related to the installed risk management software.

Pellegrini, of Elm Close, North Harrow, was ordered to pay victim services £115 and register with police in accordance with teh Sexual Offences Act for seven years.
