Archant

A mother-of-two is furious after finding the entrance to Welwyn Parish Cemetery blocked by fly-tipped rubbish.

Emma Nazari, 38, was visiting yesterday on her late father’s birthday when she encountered the mess strewn across the approach path.

“I think it is disgusting,” she told the Welwyn Hatfield Times. “People are going up there to pay their respects and can’t even get through.

“If there was a funeral I don’t know how they would get up there.”

The full-time mum had to park down the road and walk with her two young daughters – who refer to the cemetery as “Grandad’s garden”.

She added: “They said what is all this rubbish, but they were fine as they had their wellie boots on.

“If my little girl was in a pushchair then I wouldn’t have been able to get up there at all.”

Mrs Nazari, from Stevenage, also has her nan, uncle and great grandparents buried at the Kimpton Road site.

More to follow.
