A BOOK written by a Hatfield author could soon become a favourite with the future King or Queen.

Sandra Shaw, of Old Rectory Drive, sent a copy of her first book, Pom-Pom the Podgy Bear, to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to grace the royal nursery.

Last week Ms Shaw received a letter back from the couple’s secretary thanking her for her kind gift.

The 63-year-old told the WHT: “I was gobsmacked to receive a letter back, I’m absolutely over the moon.

“I can’t believe the new baby will have my book – that the Royal family will have my book.

“It’s a lovely feeling, I feel quite honoured.”

Ms Shaw said she sent her book, which is about a mischievous bear, to the couple after seeing Kate and her bump on television.
